An orphan is a single word in a paragraph or heading that’s left by itself on a line, disrupting the typography of the page.
Try as much as possible to avoid having orphans in your text.

2. Use Character Codes

Use em dashes, smart quotes “ ” and other proper character codes

3. Faux Styling

Don’t use faux styling.

 

4. Even Alignment

Create even alignment for quotations and lists. Use negative text-indent.

5. Utilize Icon Fonts.

They are faster to load than images and lighter than SVG images.
